Online Video Poker Games: Strategy For Fun

Posted by ArthurD | Online Casinos,Poker | Monday 26 April 2010 6:05 pm

Some people that enjoy a good poker game at a buddies house on Saturday night also enjoy heading to a casino to play the game. A casino offers not only traditional poker games that are played at a table, but also offers video poker games. The biggest difference between table poker and video game poker is that the machine can be preset to have particular odds as to how often the player will win.

Of course, with a video poker game, there are buttons and virtual opponents as opposed to being able to hold your cards and look other players in the eye. The nice thing about video poker games, is that no matter what version of this popular pastime you enjoy the most, it is likely to be available. If you don’t happen to have a favorite, are new to the game or just don’t know all the rules, keep reading for some of the basics.

If you want to play five card stud on a video game, you will notice that the play is exactly the same as at the table. To start, every player is given a card with the face down as well as one card that is face up. The person that has the lowest card with the face up needs to make a bet of half of the minimum amount or a full bet to initiate the game. In a clockwise order players may either raise the opening bet, fold their cards, or call. Cards are dealt until each player has a total of five cards. Then the fourth card is dealt, and the lowest bet is raised to double the original bet. Finally, the fifth and final card is given to all the players face up, followed with the final round of betting.

In Caribbean Stud Poker, including on video poker games, each player wagers against the dealer and not against each other. To play, each person must pay an ante just to see their cards. Then, if allowed, players may bet one dollar to enter the jackpot. Five cards are then dealt face down to every person that is playing as well as to the dealer, except the dealer’s fifth card is dealt face up. The players now have two options to choose from: they may either place a bet equal or larger than the original ante, or as in any poker game they may fold and withdraw from the current hand, forfeiting their ante.

After all the players have either bet or folded, the dealer then reveals the cards in his or her hand. In order to challenge a player’s hand, the dealer’s hand needs to have either an Ace and a King or better; if no player has this combination, the dealer will fold his hand and the ante is the only amount paid out, with the player’s bets being returned to them. If the dealer has an Ace and a King or better then the player’s cards and the dealer’s cards are shown and the best hand wins the pot.

Online and Real World Poker Differences

Posted by ArthurD | Online Casinos,Poker | Wednesday 21 April 2010 4:31 pm

For years Poker has been a booming game. Some have called it an enjoyable hobby, others a cutthroat sport. If not for online poker, the game would have never launched into iconic status. Let’s face it. Online poker is the one and only reason why the game grew at all.

It started some time ago with then thousands of people logging in to try their hand at this game. It soon became an addiction. Since then, many have ventured out into real world poker rooms and tournaments. Many online poker players today are “practicing” for the big-time. And many poker pros play online.

That said, there are two big differences between online poker and your brick and mortar poker room-and no, it’s not just the cigar smoke and sometimes annoying wait to get into a game. The two main differences are time and tells-the two T’s. Today, I’ll break them down for you.

Time

Online poker is a lightning fast game compared to real world poker. When you watch poker on TV, they actually do a major editing job to make it look more up to speed.

When you play online poker, you’re acting within 20-30 seconds. You either act before your timer goes down or you’re done. There isn’t much think time.

Now, play in the real world and it’s a drastic change. The game moves at a snail’s pace. For some this is good. You can sit there and think about what to do.

However, the slower game means less hands per hour, which in turn can mean lower profit per hour. If you’re a mechanical online poker player that just cranks out the profit per hand, real world play might not be good for you.

Tells

Countless articles and books have been written that deal with tells at the poker table. In fact, talk to any poker pro and he or she will talk about playing the player not the cards.

Good or bad, you can’t do this with online poker. Tells virtually don’t exist. Sure, you can pick up some playing habits if you play with someone long enough, but it’s difficult. There’s no way to study your opponent.

For some, this is a good thing. Your opponents can’t see you doing cartwheels, because you’ve just scored a full house on the river or picked up trips on the flop. But, true pros do their best work when they are sitting across from other players in the real world.

It’s my opinion that bluffing in online play is darn near stupid. The only way to bluff is to bet more or less and pray that your opponent(s) care. It just doesn’t have the same weight as the real world.

No Limit hold’em Profit Secrets

Posted by ArthurD | Texas Holdem | Wednesday 21 April 2010 4:30 pm

Texas Hold’em is the most popular variation of poker. The game is a very complicated, fast paced game with one million things going on at once. Honestly, when I began playing, the basic rules of the game had me baffled at first glance. As time went by and I learned how to play the game, I started getting into strategies.

When you first start playing, you have no idea what is going on. You may think you know, but there is so much going on that you really cant tell unless you have studied strategies. I will teach you the 10 most important aspects of the game you MUST look out for. By being aware of these “events” that occur under you’re very nose, you can win every single chip on the table. No matter what table you play at, no matter what the betting range is, you will win with even moderately acceptable cards.

We will go over the 5 Secret tips which will help you to win every game.
These tips are top secret and will only be seen here in this article. To fully understand the game and win by paying complete and utter attention to every single tip and make sure to print them out to make this an easier read, in addition to a quick handy guide. Having said that we can continue on with the best tips around.

1. The first tip is, you must play only strong hands. The fact that this is NO LIMIT means that you can lose everything on the first hand. This is very important because you can lose if you make a simple mistake. Remember that you can lose everything in one turn so make sure you can handle the bets.

2. Betting is a very important aspect of hold’em. When you bet make sure that you do not bet before the flop. This indicates that you have a strong hand and will give it away. What you want to do is bet after the flop. This makes the bet a lot less presumable which is a titanic advantage. Anything to keep you’re opponents guessing is a great way to win a table. Try to bet

3. Try to bet to bet at least two thirds of the pot. This is the average size bet you should make. Many people think that betting the size of the pot is a good size bet, but that is incorrect. Make sure that you understand that there is no precise rules for betting.

4. Try to bet above what is normally being bet at the table. When Everyone is betting a certain amount, most likely because they don’t want to throw away all there money in one hand, try to bet a little higher then that amount, while making sure everyone will call. This will allow you to bet as much money as possible which will help you to hit the top spot and win the money on the table.

5. Finally, lets talk a little about bluffing. This is a very important and in many cases overused tactic. It is important to limit you’re buffing. This massively risks you’re bankroll. You do not want to risk you’re bankroll because you will be losing the only thing keeping you in the game. Now lets talk about the “all-in” bet. This is a amazingly risky move because it will cause you to lose if you’re hand does not win. It is a way to hurt some peoples bankrolls while causing yours to strengthen immensely. This is something you will want to stay away from when you have strong hands. A strong hand is not meant to be played by throwing all you’re money in.

That concludes the secret tips and strategies, which will help you to skyrocket you’re profits while playing Texas Hold’em. Please use these tips to win every game you play. I guarantee; you will win more games with these tips!

Baccarat Variations

Posted by ArthurD | Baccarat | Wednesday 21 April 2010 4:27 pm

Did you know that Baccarat is James Bond’s favorite casino game? Neither did I, but apparently it’s true! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to discover if it is traditional baccarat that 007 likes or if it is one of the many variations. Anyway; just so that every-one is aware of the types of baccarat in existence and on offer, here’s a brief overview of some of the variations:

Mini Baccarat

This is the most commonly found form of Baccarat in American Casinos and online casinos; it is very similar to traditional baccarat but with lower limits to enable wider accessibility. Other variations include: a smaller table, only the dealer handles the shoe, and the table is worked by one dealer only.

Chemin-de-fer

If the name wasn’t enough of a give away, this is a French variation of the originally Italian game, Baccarat. It’s translation ‘railroad’ doesn’t sound quite so romantic but quite fitting due to the main difference between Chemin-de-fer and traditional baccarat; namely that the French variation insists on the passing of the shoe from one player to the next when the first player has lost his hand; this ensures a railroading of the shoe around the table.

Super Pan Nine

This is a slim lined version of traditional baccarat; the decks are reduced by having the 7, 8, 9, and 10 cards removed from the decks. To compensate for the low numbers present three cards are dealt rather than two, with an option for drawing a fourth. In this version a hand of 3 or 4 only will result in the banker drawing a fourth card.

Private Baccarat

This is an unusual variation of baccarat in which the banker may choose whether to deal one or two hands to the player. Should he choose to deal the player two, the player then has the choice to play them both or to pick which one to play. If he picks one the game is as a traditional baccarat game. If however he choose to play both hands he must win both of them in order to beat the dealer; winning one and loosing one results in a tie.

Baccarat en Banque

In this French variation the player is dealt two hands, whilst the dealer is dealt one; betting on the dealers hand is prohibited in this game, and the shoe does not pass from player to player but rather stays with the dealer constantly.

Those are all the variants I know of; I’m sure that 007 could probably enlighten me as to some more, and maybe if I was lucky give me a little tutelage. For the most part it is traditional baccarat or mini-baccarat that you will find; however, it’s always good to be prepared.

Badugi Poker Its a Change

Posted by ArthurD | Uncategorized | Wednesday 21 April 2010 4:25 pm

Poker, a game using playing cards which has previously attracted the interest of world through tournaments has many variations to pick from. Badugi is one of the newest variants to be found in a couple of casino sites and the game is slowly growing as people are taking interest. The game is thought to have originated somewhere in Asia where it is still widely played today. The game is only going to grow as more people gain internet access and find the enjoyment in multi player online games.

The game is completely different to Texas Holdem so you can forget all those pairs and flushes as they just won’t help you, for starters it is a four card game and secondly it is whats known as a “low ball” game where the object is to collect the lowest cards. Another important difference between this and the more common poker games is that pairs and flushes etc don’t count, in fact the best hand ,which is also called a badugi, would be an Ace, Two, Three and Four of all different suits. Sometimes this has been called rainbow hands due to each card been different suits. Because the cards are different suits badugi hands are sometimes called rainbows. Badugi is also a draw game where players can swap cards with cards from the deck. The drawing of the cards is done in between the rounds of betting.

Once the players agree to start the game play involves rounds of betting with draws separating them, players don’t have to draw new cards – this is optional, players still try to out bluff each other by betting more than they the hand is worth, this is part of the excitement and all games have newbies and sharks so play for a while and practice makes perfect.

As with any card game you read about the best way to actually learn for yourself is to play the game and experience it first hand for yourself. You may have to wait for a game because it’s not very popular yet but it is a change and you might enjoy playing a new card game. There is only a few sites with the game but I’m sure you can find a one and practice for free. The important part is remember, no pairs, different suits and low cards, you can always read the tutorials provided on the site your playing at.
